My
Refuge
Words
by Cathy Meinhold
Music by Delaney Hafener
When my load seems heavy and the walls close in
I need to get outside to bring myself back in
I know I need my refuge, I know I need my home.
The town fades away I only hear the sounds
Of the rushing water, and the birds all around
I’m almost there, my refuge in the trees.
And a river runs through it, deep and wide
Waiting for me on the other side
Is the only place where I can breathe the air.
The world slips away like falling leaves
And all my worries float away on a breeze
It’s my refuge from the things that I can’t share
And a river runs through it, deep and wide
Waiting for me on the other side
Is the only place where I can breathe the air.
I can move again, my body’s set free
My mind is finally catching up with me
I’ve come to you, my refuge, once again.
And a river runs through it, deep and wide
Waiting for me on the other side
Is the only place where I can breathe the air.
