Conservation!
Education!
Action!
In
2006, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service completed its 15-year
Comprehensive Conservation Plan for the Long Island National
Wildlife Refuge Complex which strives to protect the needs of
wildlife and provide wildlife-oriented opportunities for the
public. A major outcome of the Plan was the need for a
Visitor Learning Center. The new Center will serve as a
catalyst for wildlife conservation and education.
Please pitch in and make the Visitor
learning Center a Reality…
Tell our Senators and Congressmen how
important a Visitor Center is for Long Island… Long Island
residents… visitors to Long Island… education… conservation...

Dear Senator Hillary Clinton, Senator Chuck Schumer,
Congressmen Tim Bishop and Congressmen Steve Israel
Re: Visitor Center for Wertheim National Wildlife Refuge
on Long Island
One of the top priorities of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service
is:
Connecting People with Nature & Ensuring the Future of
Conservation
I think a Visitor Center located at Wertheim National Wildlife
Refuge, Headquarters of the Long Island National Wildlife Refuge
Complex, is one of the best locations in the country.
A Visitor Center will enable the Friends of Wertheim Refuge and
the Long Island National Wildlife Refuge Complex to offer
programs, workshops and interpretive exhibits year round. The
new Center will serve as a much needed catalyst for wildlife
conservation and education. The educational and recreational
benefits of a network of wildlife refuges surrounded by a
metropolitan area of more than 7.5 million people is immense.
Please support building a Visitor Center at Wertheim
National Wildlife Refuge by helping the Friends of Wertheim
obtain appropriations money for this project.
Sincerely,
